Human Rights

We work with organisations to assess what they are going to do, and why, and then how they are going to deliver their services into the future that will promote and protect human rights

Our work in supporting public entities to implement a Human Rights-based approach

Social Scaffolding is experienced in engaging with large public entities to to develop an increased understanding of human rights, their compliance responsibilities and to how they can move towards a human rights-based practice.

Our approach has a strong focus on understanding the organization's overarching business goals and operating environment.

Achieving this understanding enables us to:

  • support organizations to assess how the human rights intersect with their business; and

  • develop a plan for how the human rights will be implemented into their everyday service delivery operations and activities.

What are the key benefits of engaging with human rights for public entities?

Both in Australia and overseas, many organisations have recognised that implementing a human rights based approach within their services has resulted in numerous benefits.  These include:

  • Improves decision-making by providing a framework to identify, assess and balance human rights against other rights and interests.

  • Helps manage organisational risks, such as litigation.

  • Builds reputation and credibility.

  • Creates a framework for solving problems.

  • Provides a protective mechanism to engage compliance and adherence to human rights laws.

  • Inspires staff and gives them a framework to act with a moral compass when engaging with people.
